If a court is required to make an order in the form of a Specific Issue Order, a Prohibited Steps Order or a Child Arrangement Order, then an application 

The child arrangements order application is made usig application form C100. The child arrangements order application would need to explain the orders sought and the issues at hand. The family court will consider the child arrangements order application bundle before they issue it and thereafter the formal proceedings commence.

The application can either be made online or by completing an EX160 Form and sending it to the Court with your application. Details are at the same link. Having received the documents the Court will fix a hearing date (First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointment.). You will receive notification of this. You should attend the hearing.

The legal agreement between the court and the child's parents or guardians is called a child arrangement order. It is a decision that names the parent with whom the child is going to live. This person has Parental Responsibility for the child as long as the order is in effect. When the child turns 16, the order becomes null and void.

When submitting your C100 Form, and therefore your application for a court to make a Child Arrangements order, you are required to pay the court fee of £232 (correct as of May 2022). A solicitor can assist you with this and therefore additional costs may be incurred.
